Omry Ronen

Omry Ronen (born in Odessa, July 12, 1937) is an American Slavist, known for his works on the Silver Age of Russian Poetry and especially on the poetry of Osip Mandelstam.[1]

Omry Ronen was born in Odessa in 1937. From 1953 he lived in Hungary, and from 1957 in Israel.[2] He obtained his B.A. in Hebrew University and his PhD in Harvard.[3] From 1972 to 1985, he was professor at Hebrew University. From 1985 he is Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.[4]

His works on the Silver Age of Russian Poetry include Ronen (1983) and Ronen (2000). He is also the author of three books of essays based on his essay column "From the Town of NN” in the journal "Zvezda".
